Sea Meets Spirit: Introducing Talisker Whisky Smoked Sea Salt

Here at Isle of Skye Sea Salt, an iconic collaboration has been forming. Fire, Hebridean water, perfectly infused wood taken from a cask that has served its time making beautiful spirits… We’re delighted to announce our Talisker Whisky Smoked Sea Salt, exclusively available at the Talisker Visitor Centre at Carbost, Skye.

Taking inspiration from the island that’s home to the both of us, this unique sea salt combines the rugged character of Skye’s coastline with the iconic depth and warmth of Talisker’s whisky.

 

While developing this sea salt, we quickly realised that cold smoking (the same as our usual smoked sea salt) was the right way to do things. It preserves the true Scottish flavour of our sea salt, while allowing delicious smokiness to infuse into the crystals. The unmistakable Talisker flavour comes from wood chips that have been carved from a retired whisky cask.

The result? A beautifully balanced seasoning with flavour that reflects Skye’s stunning environment. 

This brings something special to a vast range of dishes. Add a smoky, fiery twist to cocktails, create a delicious rub for cuts of meat before a BBQ, or simply add some island inspired flavour to your favourite vegetables.

Regardless of where you cook, outdoors or in the kitchen, Talisker Whisky Smoked Sea Salt is an ingredient capable of adding distinctive depth to your creations.
